Getting started in Fly-Tying seems to be the natural evolution for all fly fishing anglers. DreamCastIdaho.com is proud to be introducing three workshops this year. Our Beginning Fly-Tying Workshops are designed for those wanting to learn the basics. The Intermediate Fly-Tying Workshops are designed for those wanting to take their skills to a higher level. The Classic Steelhead and Spey Tying Workshops are for those wishing to take their skills to the fine art side of Fly-Tying, or like many who enjoy fishing beautiful flies, which all steelhead deserve the right to be caught with. (See workshop for more info). Beginning Fly-Tying: In this workshop we are going to describe how to tie four types of flies (Dry, wets, streamers, and nymphs), which you will be able to use during the fishing season. Each of the patterns has been specifically selected so that you can tie other patterns in the category with little difficulty. In learning these basic techniques you will soon master certain fundamentals, which will help as you start tying more complex patterns. All materials and equipment for these workshops will be provided. I am proud to have Jeremy Maxon’s experience, and tying skills, as our instructor for this workshop. Jeremy, has been tying flies, researching materials, and developing techniques for his own patterns since he attended a fly tying class in High School. Jeremy ties flies commercially for many of the fly shops in the Treasure Valley, as well as abroad. Jeremy has been invited by the Fly Fishers Federation (FFF) Fly Tying Expositions as well as other shows in the Northwest, where he shows attendees how to tie various patterns. He was chairman for the 2009 Western Idaho Fly Fishers Expo in Boise, Idaho where he and his family live. (See workshop for info). All materials and equipment for these workshops will be provided. Limited to 8 Participants. For workshop dates and times, please refer to registration or upcoming events. Workshop fees are $50.00 and will be held in the Sawtooth Conference Room at Cabela’s Tuesday evenings starting at 5:30pm. Intermediate Fly-Tying: And new workshop offered this year for those tiers wanting to learn intermediate and advanced techniques. This workshop is an Open Forum (Clinic) to help participants learn techniques, materials, and develop skills you maybe having difficulty’s with. Bring your questions, and materials you wish to learn to tie with.
I am happy to have Rick Wallis as our instructor again this year. Rick was owner of Bear Creek Fly Shop in Boise, Idaho were he tied many of the flies sold there. Rick’s knowledge, and fly tying skills are renowned in the area, and his flies are much sot after. His 30 plus years of tying experience, has developed skills and techniques mastered by few individuals. We will have many materials available for the workshop but because this is an open question and answer format you might need to bring your own special material needed for your fly. (See workshop for more info). We will provide as much materials and equipment as possible. Workshop Fees $50.00 Limited to 8 Participants. Workshop Dates are Thursday evenings 5:30 to 8:00pm. |
