INTRODUCTION TO FLY FISHING

This course is designed for beginning fly fishers, with little or no experience.  You will learn how to select your first fly rod and reel, and how to select a fly line that meets your fishing needs. We will discuss leaders, tippets, and show you the knots used to attach them. We will introduce you to the types, and categories of flies used, and how to fish them. We will then discuss stream anatomy and show you how to locate fish in various types of holding water. Then we will put it altogether with personal casting instruction, and basic line management, and presentation techniques. The first cast we will learn is the “roll cast”. Once you have developed these basic techniques I would encourage you to take our Intermediate Fly-Fishing and Casting Workshop. This workshop takes you beyond the basic “roll cast”, and introduces you to new mending and line management techniques designed to help you master and enjoy the Art of Fly-Fishing & Casting.

Workshops cost $50.00 and are limited to 10 participants so everyone will receive personal instruction. Workshops are held Saturdays starting at 9:00am to 4:00pm. See registration for dates, and locations.
