The reason I began fly fishing is like most. Searching for an activity that would remove me from the troubles at work, the stress of dealing with everyday life struggles, self doubt, and a feeling of something missing but not knowing what that was. What I did find through fly fishing was freedom from these thoughts and into a different time.

As I grew into this sport I wanted to know all I could; reading about the masters of fly fishing, learning from their wisdom, experience, following in their footsteps. Yet, even then something was missing, the peace and the passing of time I found fly fishing didn't follow me into my day to day life. Somehow, somewhere, someone introduced me to a book about a man who taught some fishermen. The title of this book is Basic Introduction Before Leaving Earth. Because I was a fisherman I wanted to learn all I could so I began searching for this book. Not finding anyone who knew about this book in the stores, I asked my friend Jim, who was a fisherman if he knew about it. He laughed and said he would send me a copy. He suggested I read what a Man named John had to say about this Teacher and the other fishermen he taught named Peter, Andrew, and James.

That was 12 years ago, and since then I have found many students of His on the rivers I fish. Now my day to day life is much like a day of fly fishing, some are good, some are great, because I have found the best guide to show me the way.

Solid Rock Outdoorsmen

Solid Rock Outdoorsmen is a non-profit men’s association in beautiful Meridian, ID. We have chosen the name, Solid Rock Outdoorsmen – Extreme Adventure, Eternal Results to represent our purpose. Our goal is to pass on a love for God, hunting, and fishing that was received from a heritage of great outdoorsmen.

Throughout the year, we host hunting and fishing seminars. Plus, we go on men’s and family events exploring the lakes, rivers, trails and various wonders of the great outdoors. We do this by providing opportunities for improving outdoor skills while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
